Ruth L. Snyder spent the first ten years of her life in southern Africa where her parents served as missionaries. During this time, she attended school in three different countries – South Africa, Botswana, and Rhodesia (now called Zimbabwe). Favourite childhood memories include camping in Kruger National Park and Chobe National Park, visiting Victoria Falls, and falling asleep to the rhythm of rain pelting their tin roof.

In 1977, her family moved to Canada, settling in Three Hills, Alberta. Ruth enjoyed her years as a “staff kid” at Prairie and is grateful for the biblical grounding she received there while attending Prairie Junior High and Prairie High School. She returned to attend Prairie Bible College, graduating with a Bachelor of Religious Education degree.

She now resides close to Glendon (the pyrogy capital of Alberta, Canada) with her husband and five children. Ruth enjoys writing articles, devotionals, short stories, and Christian fiction. She has had pieces published in Testimony, Chicken Soup for the Soul, The Upper Room, and FellowScript. Her publication credits also include three novelettes: Cecile’s Christmas Miracle, Shadows and Sunshineand Life Lessonsa devotional booklet: Uplifting Devotionals for Parents;and some books on using Twitter effectivelyLearn Twitter: 10 Beginning Steps and Learn Twitter: 10 Intermediate StepsShe is a member of The Word Guild and The Christian PEN. Ruth currently serves as the President of InScribe Christian Writers’ Fellowship.

Ruth’s children have taught her many things about living with special needs. She is a strong advocate and spent several years serving as a school board trustee on the local public school board.

Her work experience includes Chamber Maid at Bow View Motor Lodge, Customer Service Representative and Assistant Manager of Prairie Book Room, Legal Secretary, Educational Assistant, Customer Service Representative at Debby’s Nook, School Board Trustee, Editor for the Alberta Piano Teacher’s Association, Editor for Region 7 Child and Family Services, Piano Teacher, Writer, Workshop Leader, Speaker, and Coach.

Her volunteer experience includes work with Ross Haven Bible Camp, AWANA, Whitney Lake Bible Camp, teaching Sunday School, church pianist and choir director, Glendon Catering Club, Glendon School Council, Glendon Playground and Park Society, InScribe Christian Writers’ Fellowship, and Foster/Adopt Children Today (FACT).

Ruth loves her job teaching Music for Young Children. She is fascinated by children’s imaginations and enjoys helping young children learn the basics of music through play.

She also enjoys speaking and sharing what she’s learning in her walk with God, as a parent of children with special needs, and as a writer. Ruth offers life coaching and coaching for writers.

In her spare time, Ruth enjoys reading, crafts, volunteering in her local community, photography, and travel. Several years ago, Ruth and her family traveled through 28 States in 30 days!
