Sustained By Grace

My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary.  Forty years ago, we said, “I do.” As friends and family surround us with love and congratulations, I find myself wondering, “What if we, at the young and tender age we were when we married, could have seen the next forty years?”  Would we have been brave enough then to step into our life together, or would we have said, “I don’t,” and run the other way?

The good news is that we don’t have to face our future alone.  God knows our needs before we realize them.  We are abundantly blessed. In marriage and in life, God sustains us.

His grace and love are sufficient.

The past couple of weeks have been tough ones for our family.  Forest fires have raged in the mountains of North Carolina.  Our home, which sits in the middle of a forest, has been threatened and we have been evacuated.

But, God knew our need long before the flames licked our front yard. He knows that we need the blanket of love and prayers that our wonderful friends send to cover us.  Such warmth and comfort only God provides.  Even in our desperate moments, we are blessed.

His grace and love are sufficient.

As we enter this time of celebrating the birth of Christ and the beauty of the manger, let us remember that God knew, before the beginning of time, that mankind would need a Savior.

The manger is never more beautiful than when it is silhouetted against the backdrop of pain, suffering, beauty, and victory of the cross.

God knew our need…

For God so loved the world

that he gave his one and only Son,

that whoever believes in him

shall not perish

but

have eternal life.

(John 3:16 NIV)

His grace and love are sufficient.

One response to “Sustained By Grace

  1. It is amazing the people that He puts in our life, so live it and live it well. We may not always think it, but those He places in our care are perfect!!
