Ever Wonder Who You Are?

There is a popular commercial where people are seeking to know their ancestry and find their true identity in each leaf they uncover…. Intriguing how important it is to know who we are and where we came from. Ancestry can teach us about our families and the contributions of our make-up, revealing why we are the way we are.

What if the only true identity that really matters is who you are in Christ?

The definition of identity: 1- The fact of being who or what a person or thing is. 2- A close similarity or affinity.

Breaking that down as it relates to being a follower of Christ- to be like Christ, Christ like, recognized as one who is like Christ.

“Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12

In Christ we are a new creation, (2 Peter 1:4), new, born again…. Spiritually minded instead of worldly minded. Our new identity in Christ worships and fellowships with God, obeys His will and does His service. This makes you a child of God; a son/daughter of the King, now that is an ancestry to be in awe of! This new identity means we are God’s children, adopted, joint heirs and friends of Christ.

“So we who are many, are nevertheless just one body in Christ, and individually we are parts of one another mutually dependent on each other.” Romans 12:5

We are part of a larger heritage/ancestry of the body of Christ, brothers and sisters with other believers. Members of a new family where we encourage one another as we grow. Plus, Christ offers grace to us as we walk this life with Him… That is an amazing heritage!

In Christ “we are more than conquerors” (Romans 8:37), through Christ we are forgiven, loved, secure, adopted, chosen, redeemed. We are victorious and find true meaning in life…. Those are the leaves that I want to uncover, how about you? It’s time to put on your child of the King crown and wear it well…

Abundant Blessings!
