For Every Season

I love fall, and look forward to it every year! I love when the seasons change from summer to fall, the wind blows cool and I hear the crunch of leaves beneath my feet. It is time for pumpkin spices lattes, and sweaters and fall decor! I so look forward to this season in my life, because I live in Texas. Here, the only thing higher than the temperatures is the amount of humidity in the air. As I look forward to this new season in my life, I want to linger here and enjoy it. I want to savor each moment, because it is all to fleeting.

In Ecclesiastes 3 we learn that there are seasons in life. Seasons of good, seasons of bad. We learn that there is a season for everything.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

 a time to be born, and a time to die;
time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.

All of these verses have to do with time. We are given 24 hours each day to spend.

How are you spending your days?

Are you living well?

 Ecclesiastes 3:11-13 tells us, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live;”

Maybe we experience the difficult so that we appreciate the easy. Through all of the seasons, God is working out good in our lives, making our lives a beautiful offering unto Him. He has placed eternity in all of our hearts—a God shaped hole that only He can fill.

My challenge to you today in this season is to be joyful, and do good. Understand that there is a time and a season for everything. As you sip your latte and enjoy the cooler weather, seek the Lord while He may be found. Jesus longs to have a relationship with you, and through every season in life He is there for you.

One response to “For Every Season

  1. I usually relish the changing seasons. Autumn is one of my favorites, although winter in Michigan can be brutal at times. The beauty of the changing seasons is sometimes something that we have to mine for, to choose to see what isn’t necessarily evident to the immediate vision. I am entering a season with a friend that looks bleak as she awaits diagnosis. Her fear is evident, and truly founded. She has been here before…still. I pray that I have the words to help her get through this day…
