Hope for the hopeless - plus: adult coloring book giveaway and pre-sale perks!

colored hope{giveaway is at the bottom following today’s post on Hope}

So it goes with any who forget God. The hope of the godless soon withers and dies. Job 8:13

The news came swiftly, and after the fact. Suicide. He was only twenty-four, maybe twenty-five. How could one so young lose every last shred of hope in his life, so that leaving it seems like the only remaining option.

Hope

It is what keeps us going in this life. Hope for happiness. Hope for a better tomorrow. Hope for a prosperous future. But our youth today seem to have lost sight of it. Why? I believe that it is as Job says: the hope of the godless withers and dies…and so with it the hope of life and a future.

I have had these conversations with my oldest son. He’s going through a season right now where he is questioning everything. God. Truth. Life. Purpose. Religion seems to him to be a manmade entity.  He can’t conceive the purpose of it other than to pass judgement and gather money. Most of the young feel this way, I have discovered, even the churched. They have been raised in the rituals and patterns of a religion that hasn’t shown them how to make it their own. Or maybe it has, and until they venture out and discover the darkness that really resides out there…they just don’t get it. Maybe both, but it seems to be running rampant these days.  We can see it by the numbers of young deaths by their own hands…lost hope.

Our verse here today gives us a pretty vivid picture as to why. So it goes with any who forget God.

Have our youth forgotten God? Forgotten the why’s of life, the purpose to which they were born? The hope that is there for them to grasp in their hands, to take hold of and make it their own?

Yes. I fear that it is true, most heartily.

But there is hope…

It can be found if it is searched for, and then believed. God promises that if we search for Him with all of our hearts, we will find him. He desires for us to find Him…to seek Him. I believe he uses the intricacies of our personalities to reveal himself.  He knows us best, and what it will take to reach us. But he won’t force Himself on us.  We have to desire it.  We have to look for the hope that is God.

He is the one that can calm our fears

He is the one who can bring us peace

He is the one who will give purpose to our lives

Won’t you look for Him? Look for the hope that you may be missing today?

Finding hope is so vital to our daily lives. Even when our circumstances don’t encourage this, God is there to impart hope to those who seek Him and recognize His presence.
