Perhaps the most famous verse in the Bible is about love:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. “ Wow -This is Agape love.
The other types of love are :
Storge – Familial love
Phileo – Brotherly love – friendship
Eros – Sexual, passionate love
Since it is still February, I will focus on Eros love. The Song of Solomon is incredibly passionate, and unlike any other book in the Bible. I read it for the first time recently, and even as an old married lady, it took my breath away. If you need a romantic read, this is for you. Eight short, beautiful chapters. My prayer today is for the blessing of loving marriages where, over time, as the eros love deepens, the other types of love become just as important.
Prayer based on Song of Solomon 8:6-7
Heavenly Father – I thank you for the special gift of love between men and women. I pray that our marriages are committed so that we are set like seals on one another’s hearts. Please help our love to remain strong and jealous for one another in the same way as You are jealous for us. May the fire in our hearts remain blazing, intense and unquenchable. Remind us each and every day that this gift is a treasure like no other – priceless. In Jesus’s loving name we pray.
