Fighting Through Prayer

I highly recommend the movie “War Room” !

My husband and I saw it on a date night recently, it was compelling and inspiring. Ms. Clara is my favorite character. Her practical Godly advice and fervent, bold prayer life truly changes lives and scenarios that only God can do! I have had a “prayer room” for many years, mine is not a closet, but my bathroom, LOL. Not very classy, but it is plastered with scriptures and prayer journals… I was encouraged by the message of the movie, even though I understand the importance of taking everything to the Lord rather than complaining, it really honed in the importance of giving the battle to God.
More often than I want to admit I have taken battles into my own hands, creating deep wedges in relationships. My mouth has spoken too quickly with words that are hurtful and destructive. God is working on me and teaching me to bring my battles to Him and to listen for the Holy Spirit’s leading rather than my own ways.

“A fools mouth lashes out with pride, but the lips of the wise protect them.” Proverbs 14:3

Recently, I was put to the test in this very thing. Hurt by the disregard of my loved one for the desire of my heart, feeling “justified” in my anger and disappointment, I had to sit next to him in the car for an eight hour ride…. Talk about a test! I opened my Bible and poured my heart out to the Lord in my prayer journal. I sensed that I needed to be silent or I might say things I would regret. Instead I asked God to clean and clear my heart and fight this battle for me. On our trip we ran into multiple obstacles that caused my loved one to question whether God was testing him, I still remained quiet… God got His message through without an utterance from me!

It’s amazing how much greater the outcome is when God is the one fighting our battles instead of us!

“The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.” Psalm 103:6

Abundant Blessings,
