Balancing Act

Some days, weeks, months and even years can feel like a juggling act ! Juggling is not in my talent repertoire….. Yet, I often find myself attempting this difficult feat… Why, because I either say yes to too much, create unrealistic ” to do” lists, or allow my priorities to get out of whack.
God is clear in His Word about having peace in the storm and setting our priorities straight. “I will listen to what God the Lord says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants - but let them. Not turn to folly.” Psalm 85:8 . “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” Matthew 6:33
Peace, true peace can only come when our focus is on JESUS! Keeping our priorities in order brings balance, peace and calm in the midst of any storm. Starting each day with the Lord in His Word and prayer will set the tone for the day and allows my focus to not be on myself or pleasing others, but pleasing God. Listening to worship music while I work and travel through each day, brings God’s Word alive, song to my lips, positive perspective to struggles and praises from my heart. When my actions start with Him I am able to stop and pray before saying “yes” to too much, or things that God is not calling me to. I am less likely to set unrealistic expectations for myself or others, which saves a lot of unneeded anguish. Even in the most severe storms of life, my priorities and attitude can bring peace and joy if HE is my FIRST.
This takes discipline and is all about my daily choices! So every time I find myself juggling, it’s time to re-access, where am I not placing God first and make the changes ASAP!

Abundant Blessings,
Heidi Wilt
