Sometimes I can get so “caught up” in today’s list of “to-do’s” or troubles that I forget who I am and where I came from. Life can be so distracting, keeping us from God’s Peace and Plan, because we lose our focus on Him and forget how far He has brought us and how much He loves us!
As of late I have struggled with some health issues and I allowed myself to slip into a “funk” ( I choose that word because I don’t want to give credence to the “D” word). Even though I have been spending much time at the Father’s feet and in His Word my mind has lost focus, leaving me dry and lacking the joy that comes from HIM. Going through the motions but not fully opening your heart can do that.
During the course of a recent conversation with someone about our past life (before The Lord), and life after coming to Christ, I was reminded of who I am, how far He has brought me and where I might be without Him…. All because of His great LOVE for me, not because I deserved it, but because HE is GRACE and He accepted me under his protective arms even though I was and still am a very broken vessel. Wow, that is powerful! I am the daughter of The King of the Universe. His love for me is so great that He brought me out of the pit of child abuse, a broken alcoholic home, feeling worthless, unloved and unable to trust… To a woman on the sanctification road, walking with JESUS!
Life’s journey has never been easy for me, but every trial has kept my eyes on Jesus and brought me closer to Him. I shutter to think of the path I might have walked without choosing to follow Him at age 12… Someday in eternity He will show me. Just imagining it overwhelms me with a deep sense of gratitude, I am overcome by His great LOVE.
So that one conversation touching on my testimony brought me back to my knees, at His feet, still in His Word, but this time my focus is undistracted… I can see clearly again, just by a shift in my thinking. My issues have not disappeared, yet my peace and joy are returning, allowing Him to reveal His plan.
I never understood or knew the love of a father, till God revealed Himself to me. He showed me what unconditional Love, Grace and Trust was and changed me forever!
We must never forget from where we came, it is vital to our future in the Lord… All praise, honor and glory to God the Father!
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”
