Free-falling

I spent the day rehearsing the music that I would play the following week.

As the notes poured forth, some of them were heavenly.  Some of them were harmonious.  Some of them simply fit in place and some of them clashed in angry tones of confusion and conflict.  My soul cringed as the music played.  It sounded as if there were cracks in the foundation of this symphonic piece and I was unable to fix them. Such beauty mixed with such chaos!  And I was expected to perform this hodge-podge of sound in less than 7 days?  My heart cried out in anguish as I brought the music to a grinding halt.  I bowed my head and heart in prayer and then, looking up with fresh determination, as faith rose up within, a river of hope began to flow outward and upward.  I sat at the piano, only this time I rested, renewed in spirit and soul, and began the piece from the top.  The harmony resumed; the chaos faded away, and music from the heart came forth in beauty unforeseen.  I finished my repertoire in silence, in awe of the One who had come to restore that which had been lost and to fix that which had been broken.  In just a few minutes He took my confusion and chaos and replaced it with the Sound of Heaven.

As I released my music into His hand, He released His into mine.

The trust of a true musician lies not in himself or his own abilities, but rather in the Lord of all music.  A true musician understands that he is not the author of the music, but rather the instrument through which the music is played.  And, with this understanding, the Author of the music is the True Musician.

Are you willing to allow the Lord of the Song to play His song through you?  Are you willing to free-fall into His everlasting arms of love and yield to His workings? Today is the day for you to choose to trust in the Living God.  Be His instrument in His hand and His song of love will be played through your life.

Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.  Proverbs 3:5,6

  2. I love how God speaks through His kingdom citizens, as the the perfect words are shared in a devotion or blog post. Thank you for yours. I’ve been outside this morning, watching the lunar eclipse, praying, listening. Proverbs 3:5-6 kept playing over and over in my head. I guess that’s the verse of the day. Great words to have on my mind!
