“When you can’t see God’s hand, trust His heart” lies etched on the wall right above my fireplace. It is a daily reminder for me to search for His touch upon my days; for evidence of His guiding hand, His mercy and love.

This particular sense of ours is probably the one that we rely upon most to tell us what is real. If we can touch and feel the actual presence of something within our grasp – we know with surety that its existence is indisputable. There is absolutely no doubt in our minds that this tactile piece of evidence is a part of the physical world.

Sadly, there are people who approach God in the same way. If there is no physical evidence that can be seen and felt and held within their grasp, making His existence indisputable, they will not even consider the possibilities. But the embodiment of God is so vast and indescribable that to place Him inside something of this physical world would make him so much less than He actually is. It would make the infinite - finite, and the indescribable - describable. This is not the God that I know.

Developing this particular sense towards the eternal One requires a great work. It requires faith and vision; the ability to see what is unseen and know what is unknown. Only with the help of the Holy Spirit can the subjective nature of God be an undeniable reality within our hearts and minds.

“When you search for me, yes, search for me with all your heart, you will find me.” Jeremiah 29:13

Search for me with ALL your heart.

I believe that when we become desperate for God - that is when He shows up, that is when the evidence of His touch upon our days becomes most evident. And when we begin to accept His presence in the situations of our lives, it is not long before the fingerprints begin to show.

  • God is not with us on Sunday
  • He is not with us when we are in trouble
  • He does not show up when we need help

God is with us always – He is an ever present being, walking beside us each and every day, all day, in every situation. We just have to choose to see it.

Here are a couple of exercises to get you started:

  • Talk to God throughout your day- about everything
  • Ask His opinion about every choice that you make- before you make it
  • Imagine Him sitting next to you while you drive and discuss the things that weigh heavy on your mind – like unloading on a friend.

I work alone so it is not difficult for me to do this; I simply treat the presence of God as continual, like a coworker, a boss, or a friend. The reality of God has become so matter of fact in my life that I see His guiding hand in all aspects.

I see the evidence of His provisions

I find His glory in the physical world around me

I hear His still small voice deep within my soul

I even recognize His gentle teachings in the trials of my days

The evidence of Gods touch is all around us, showing us the reality, revealing the mystery, and guiding in truth.

Choose to see it – Seeing isn’t believing

Believing is seeing

Soli Deo Gloria!~
