Good Morning my fellow Journeyers!
Just getting back from Montreal and boy was it cold there! It gave me an awesome idea for this week’s theme “The Journey”. Just as Mary and Joseph had to prepare to have baby Jesus safe and sound, we also need to prepare for the Holidays and the Cold hard winter.
I thought it would be fun to share with you a no-sew wrap that you can make very easily for yourself as well as others as Christmas presents. It is easy and fun to make.
Things you will need:
5 ft of fleece material
1 pair of sharp scissors
measuring stick or measuring tape
First start out with your piece of fleece and cut it into a 5×5 foot square. It does not have to be exact. I usually just trim off the edges on both side of the material to give you a good working surface. Then measure out five feet in length making sure it looks square.
Once you have your square cut out fold it in half and then in half again in the opposite direction - this will mark the center where you are going to cut your neck line. Make a small slit to mark where the center is. Open the fleece all the way up on a flat surface and find the slit that you made. Open it all the way up down the shorter side of the material.
Now cut out your neck line like a big exclamation point. Keep in mind it does not have to be exact because when you have it wrapped around you it will not show any inconsistency. That is the beauty of this project!
Next you want to style it with a fringe edge. Use your scissors and cut a 1” to 1-1/2” long slits about ½” apart from each other.
Tip: I used a long piece of masking tape to mark the depth I wanted my fringe to be cut up to. It helped me to stay consistent with my fringing so I didn’t have to measure all the time.
Voila! Now you have a wonderful wrap for fall, winter and spring. I actually have 3 different patterns but I have to say the leopard print is my favorite. In Montreal you see a lot of people use them as an extra layer of protection over their coats and it looks great too!
Good project to curl up to! May your journey through the Holiday season be blessed!
