a most Unexpected Gift

unexpected gift

Most of us go through life bumping along its path living moment to moment until that unexpected event happens (if it happens) and changes your life. Some of our readers know that I am the recipient of a knee transplant and while I don’t know much about my donor expect that he was a year older than me when he went to be with the good Lord, I know that his gifts changed many lives.

He is in my thoughts and prayers every day, and I am grateful to be able to walk, run, and ride a bike amongst other things. With this gift of renewed life, I have managed in many ways to give back to the community…like teaching Hip Hop dance to Christian music in our church. It was a very successful 3 year mission, and the best part was that I was an example of God’s grace.

God’s influence in my life and His shoulder to lean on, helped me to cope through nine surgeries and 9-1/2 years of chronic pain. He taught me patience, how to help those who suffer, and throughout all this I developed a thankful heart for even the simplest things.

So hat’s off to my donor, whoever he was, for I am able to appreciate many things just from the gift that he gave me. I do much of the work God has laid on my heart knowing I couldn’t have done it without this donation and I always somehow feel like it is a team effort, keeping what he has done for me in my heart.

I am also very grateful for my Savior, my comforter, my peace maker, because quite honestly, without Him in my life, I may have turned to suppressing pain and suffering with things that could never possibly fix the root of the problem.  Having the Savior in your life gives you a different perspective on life and a different way to cope, and for that I am eternally thankful!  He is our hope.

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.” Hebrews 12:28

Thank you Father for all the blessings you bestow upon us big and small. Let us always have a Thankful heart!

Peace be with you all throughout the Holidays.
