Waiting at the Crossroads

“This is what the Lord says: ” Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16

I am personally at a crossroads in my life, facing decisions regarding the future. Being at this place requires waiting on the Lord, I have been here before but haven’t always “waited well”. In the past I have manipulated and been impatient which has led me down the wrong roads.

Waiting on the Lord should be with expectation and hope, hope that doesn’t despair, because when we really trust God, hope does not disappoint.

Trusting God means holding on tight, knowing the Lord has it all handled in His PERFECT timing- not a second too soon or too late! We must allow Him to set the terms and the timing, this is not an easy place to be, never is it easy to “wait”. The “waiting” produces character, patience and spiritual growth, this involve time…. Time is a gift from God, how is that for changing perspective?

Those who patiently wait are never disappointed….

This time involves being at rest in Christ and His promises. Being still means we must stop pursuing our own agenda, realizing we can’t trust in our own strengths and abilities. I am a recovering control freak, this has been a long and difficult lesson in my journey! Our focus is shifted to the heavenly realm, away from our troubles and ourselves. God is free to work out the details when we get out of the way and stop manipulating.

Being still and waiting doesn’t mean we should be lazy and just sit around, but rather we continue to do the work the Lord has for us. We need to look to God in constant anticipation, a willingness to serve and be obedient to His call…. Filling our time in service to our Master, with our eyes focused on Him awaiting His mercy.

By being so attentive to Him, we will not miss what He is showing and leading us to.

Waiting is a time of renewal which can only come when we truly trust Him. Anxiety and fear cannot coexist with faith and trust. Being connected through the study of His Word is essential. Some encouragement, a long wait can be because God is extending the goodness of the outcome. I am holding on tightly and with anticipation to that!

Blessed are those who wait on Him.

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14

Abundant Blessings!
