Hello Everyone, I hope you enjoyed your Holiday last week. It was nice to finally some beautiful weather especially for the Fourth of July. Independance Day!
I usually right the “Do it yourself column but I felt compelled to write this article
It seems my husband and I always spend our holidays traveling to see family abroad and for the first time in years I had a wonderful 4 day weekend to spend at home doing what ever I want. Sounds funny right-usually everyone wants to be off doing something fun but I had much to catch up on and being allowed the freedom to that was definitely something I was going to appreciate.
Of course I nearly killed myself and my girlfriend getting all the things I wanted to do done but that’s not really the point! LOL Too much ambition not enough me….is my motto.
Back on track- It came to mind that here I am working away in my garden. The sun shining, beautiful breeze on my face, enjoying the work and wondering what other people are doing. Are they taking out a moment in their day to be “Thankful for their freedom?” or is it just another holiday. As most of you know my husband is from Lebanon. Their country is now in turmoil due to the crisis in Syria. They actually have more Syrian refugees seeking shelter in Lebanon than they have Lebanese people. Lebanon is actually smaller than Michigan. In fact many family members that want to travel home to Lebanon cannot this year and it struck me how fortunate we are in America. We can always come home and vacation just about anywhere. We have the ability to express ourselves in many ways and sometimes I thin America confuse the idea of freedom by allowing certain people freedom while taking others peoples away. For instance we are loosing certain religious freedoms because we are offending others such as keeping God in our schools. All in all we are very fortunate that we do not see war and destruction on our own soil and that I don’t think many people think of. I know of many stories of when the war was going on in Lebanon that my husband has told me and it is amazing that He and his family are even alive. We don’t have to worry about just going to the store or if we will see bombs falling through the sky. Lebanon is a beautiful country and I thought I would share a few photo’s for fun. I wish I could share a ton of them I took 680 pics LOL. There was beauty everywhere.
Above is a picture of my honey in Lebanon. These are the Cedars of Lebanon they talk about in the Bible. They are actually babies. The are a few left that are back from biblical times. They cherish and preserve them.
This is Gabe and his cousin and this is where they have one of the largest caves in the world. It is really beautiful but you cannot take pictures inside because of flash it destroys certain properties inside the cave. I think this shows the beauty of the mountains there. It is such a beautiful country it is now wonder that everyone tries to take it for themselves. They call Lebanon the Jewel of the Middle East.
America has its problems too but there is a lot to be said about the American Spirit and we need to keep that spirit alive and keep Founding this country on God like our for fathers did.
There is no other reason that our Country is so great, it is because by putting God first we have reaped the rewards of freedom. I pray that this country will continue you to fight to keep it that way.
Seeing my husbands family go through struggles in their country keeps me grounded in knowing just how free we really are. We don’t have to make decisions having children like China and their one baby rule. We are free to live anywhere have as many children as we want. Plant our own gardens. Volunteer to help in communities and go to church.
Thanks be to God for all those things and more!
Have a blessed weekend everyone. Lot’s of projects coming up so stay tuned!
